Telmisartan is an oral prescription medication belonging to the angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) class. • Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: Reduction of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients aged 55 years or older who are at high risk of developing major cardiovascular events (e.g., history of coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, stroke, or high-risk type 2 diabetes with end-organ damage) and who cannot tolerate ACE inhibitors.

• Boxed Warning (Fetal Toxicity): Drugs that act directly on the renin-angiotensin system can cause serious injury or death to the developing fetus. Discontinue immediately upon discovery of pregnancy.
