Refucil is a combination topical medication formulated to treat fungal skin infections accompanied by prominent inflammation, redness, and itching. It combines clotrimazole—a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal agent that damages fungal cell membranes—with betamethasone dipropionate, a potent corticosteroid that rapidly suppresses localized swelling, itching, and cutaneous discomfort. This dual formulation allows Refucil to eliminate the underlying fungal pathogen while providing fast symptomatic relief from inflammatory skin lesions.

Primary Medical Indications

Refucil is primarily indicated for short-term topical treatment of symptomatic inflammatory fungal skin conditions, including:

• Tinea Pedis (Athlete’s Foot): Fungal infections affecting the skin between the toes and the soles of the feet.

• Tinea Cruris (Jock Itch): Fungal involvement in the groin, inner thighs, and buttocks.

• Tinea Corporis (Ringworm): Superficial fungal ring-shaped lesions across the arms, legs, or trunk.

• Cutaneous Candidiasis: Yeast infections affecting skin folds, such as under the breasts or around the waistband.

Safety Guidelines & Precautions

• Duration Restriction: Refucil contains a strong corticosteroid and should generally not be used for longer than 2 consecutive weeks (or 4 weeks for tinea pedis) without medical supervision to prevent skin thinning (atrophy) or systemic steroid absorption.

• Avoid Occlusive Dressings: Do not cover the treated area with airtight bandages, diapers, or plastic wrappings unless directed by a healthcare provider.

• Facial & Ophthalmic Caution: Avoid application near the eyes, mouth, or directly on delicate facial skin unless explicitly prescribed.

• Contraindications: Do not apply to open wounds, viral skin lesions (such as herpes or chickenpox), or tuberculous lesions of the skin.
